A spa day feels like the ultimate treat, total self indulgence that I don’t get to experience very often. So when I was invited to Y Spa’s blogger day in January I jumped at the opportunity, (well at 33 weeks pregnant I awkwardly waddled at the opportunity)
The day comprised of bloggers local to Wyboston Lakes experiencing what Y Spa has to offer and I was lucky enough to attend with two of my best friends and favourite bloggers Lisahh-Jayne and Secret Diary of a Scavenger.
We were greeted with cocktails, either a blackberry bellini or a Bloody Mary, being pregnant I opted for a virgin Bloody Mary, my first (and last). Turns out I am not a Bloody Mary fan, too savoury for my sweet tooth, despite being an awkward sod my request for a completely different drink was met with a smile.
I am a massive food lover, no secret to those that know me, so I was particularly excited for this part of the day. Brunch took place in The Waterfront restaurant. The organisers had laid out quite a spread, all presented beautifully with plenty to choose from.
Unfortunately there were some dishes that were off limits to me due to runny eggs and cured meats, but had I not been pregnant I would have lapped up every dish, from garlic spinach pasta with piquante peppers and olives to a dedicated omelette station, we were spoilt!
The next part of the day involved the actual spa experience. We had access to the whole of the thermal spa as well as receiving a complimentary facial. Now, those that have been pregnant will know that anything ‘thermal’ such as jacuzzis, steam rooms and saunas are off limits. Therefore I was restricted to the relaxation rooms which comprised of:
- Big Sleep
Ergonomic loungers with warm snuggle blankets and a fireplace, together with a selection of books on fashion and glamour with which to gently drift away…… all add up to a big ZZZZ
- Time Out
Our Time Out is the perfect place to catch up with the papers or curl up and finish a chapter or two of your current read. Or immerse yourself in one of our great coffee table books. With a window to the outside it’s just a nice way to relax and reflect before afternoon tea. Tucked away behind the opulent curtains is our waterbed area. Here there are three waterbeds warmed to body temperature, where you can dream a little dream or two.
Don’t get me wrong, I definitely appreciated the opportunity to relax, particularly as my back was killing me and sleep was a struggle, but I definitely would have loved to be able to make the most of the other facilities, especially that hydrotherapy pool! However, I did have a long lie down on the waterbeds though which were amazing, and because they are slightly heated they soothed my aching muscles.
Expectant mothers shouldn’t be put off attending the spa though as they have dedicated treatments for pregnant women called Beautiful Bumps.
The final part of the day involved a facial, I have only had one other facial in my life but this one was the best of the two by far. My facial was a Pom Power facial which uses the powerful antioxidants found in Pomegranates to give fresh, glowing, radiant skin, and it worked. I am rarely found without makeup but felt confident going bare skinned due to the glow the facial left me with.
I will definitely be coming back to Y Spa post pregnancy. They have some amazing special offers, including the day we experienced called ‘RESTART. REFRESH. REHUMANISE’, which is new for 2017. For £65 per person you get:
- Pom Power Facial
- FREE Murad gift worth £35*
